MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION & MEDITATION FOR LAWYERS Lawyers have many stressors and can easily be overwhelmed with thoughts of real and imagined potential problems. This is a series of four (4) Monday evening classes where lawyers can learn and practice mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and meditation methods. There are numerous evidence based benefits including: improved physical, emotional and mental well-being; improved concentration, clarity and focus; and better communication and interaction. You will learn simple, practical meditation methods as well as cognitive strategies through the use of experiential exercise.

This class is taught by Susan Burak, J.D., M.A., RCC, who has been a practising lawyer for over twenty years and has extensive training in MBSR Techniques.

"Improving Self-Esteem" - Starting April 25, 2012
This is a series of 5-noon hour workshops based on the popular book "Ten Days to Self-Esteem" by Dr. David Burns, which we use as a textbook. This program is excellent for those Lawyers wanting to enhance their self-esteem in a safe, supportive, facilitated environment. We use written exercises, assignments and group discussion in addition to the reading to reinforce the learning. Lawyers in previous programs have reported substantial shifts and progress in their self-concept. Some of the topics include changing your self-talk to improve the way you feel; overcoming perfectionism; letting go of an unhealthy reliance of the opinions of others, and awareness of and measurement of your moods. The workshop uses research proven ways to enhance your sense of self-worth, which will positively impact every area of your life.
