Julia Herzog, RCC, JD, LLM, is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors and a PhD candidate at the University of Victoria. She is a Lawyer Counsellor with the Lawyers Assistance Program since May 2022. Julia’s research focus concerns the inter-generational transmission of trauma. A graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, Julia began her career as a Crown attorney in 2004, and commenced an immigration law practice in 2010. Julia finds inspiration and deep satisfaction in having raised four children while growing her legal career.
Julia’s theoretical vantage point is broad with an emphasis on keeping an open heart, working from a psychodynamic, attachment and strengths-based perspective and benefits from the foundational views of Carl Rogers among others. As a counsellor, Julia enjoys and holds precious the opportunity to work with people during sensitive and transitional times of life. Julia considers the natural world as a co-therapist, including, on occasion, her small labradoodle, Angie, who may work alongside her.
