Heather MacKay is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors) with a Master's degree in Counselling. She also has a background as a lawyer and a registered nurse. She brings a broad range of experience to her counselling practice, including extensive work in a variety of aspects of mental health and wellness, and many years working as a lawyer and executive. Following several years working as a nurse clinician in Psychiatry, Heather attended Law School and was called to the Bar in 1997. She spent most of her legal career focusing on the regulation of health professionals. Since becoming a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Heather has worked with many people dealing with a variety of issues and challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, stressful work environments and life transitions. Heather’s approach to counselling is to walk with her clients as they go through their own inner exploration and personal development, along with a focus on developing practical coping mechanisms. She sees herself as a facilitator and a privileged companion to the client’s process.
