Many lawyers soldier through daily high stress, negative emotions and adversities that have them operating in fight, flight, or freeze mode. Rumination and self-critical thinking are also common, leaving some lawyers anxious, angry, frustrated, or depressed. Resilience is the ability to perform effectively under pressure, and to bounce back after adversity. Resilience not only helps us survive and recover, it can help us thrive, and enhance future performance. The good news is that resilience can be taught! This workshop will teach you how to build resilience in your practice and in every-day life. Learn about the building blocks of resilience and growth, and how to build mental toughness.
Options for Lawyers is a networking, education and support group for lawyers making job or career transitions and for lawyers wishing to examine their options both personally and professionally. All LAP workshops are confidential and independent from the LawSociety.
This group meets the third Wednesday of each month from 12:15PM to 1:30PM in Vancouver at the LAP office, 1080 Mainland Street, Suite 415.
This workshop will be facilitated by Bena W. Stock, B.A., LL.B., M.C. R.C.C. who is an Associate Director and Counsellor for the Lawyers Assistance Program. Bena practised law for 24 years, has a Masters in Counselling, and has successfully helped many lawyers work through anxiety, depression, relationship issues, time management, and career transitions.
